Short and sweet!

Blog ideas

Today I introduce something new on our blog: Shorts! These quick posts are meant to be an addition to the old blog posts because I was facing the problem were we don't have enough time to write long posts but often have got something quick to share which is too long for a Tweet.

Solution: a new content-type for short posts, meant for sharing things of interests, snippets and more. The old articles are still available of course, and we might still use them in the future. In addition, I replaced all Drupal core comment with DisQus for easier commenting. Enjoy!

Migrated to Drupal 7!

Drupal distributions

Drupal distributions

The Drupal community has built and released some amazing Drupal distributions for anyone to download and use. These are preconfigured Drupal installations, often specialised in a specific area, with all necessary modules included, custom theme and an installation profile that takes care of all default settings. Here we take a look at some of the most popular.

Drupal blocks as Edge Side Includes

Drupal blocks as Edge Side Includes
Edge Side Includes (ESI) are a way to tell your reverse proxy (e.g. Varnish) that some parts of the page should get some special attention. For example a shorter expire time (TTL) or if they should be cached by USER, PAGE or by ROLE. If you know your site well enough, you can provide some advanced caching for authenticated users this way.

Pressflow and Varnish, advanced hosting for Drupal

Pressflow and Varnish, advanced hosting for Drupal
For some years now, we are building and hosting Drupal sites. One of the things we always keep focus on is speed, performance and scalability, which is a delicate balance to keep in a flexible framework like Drupal, and its thousands of modules. Keeping a high performance with high traffic drupal sites requires attention in several areas.
